'Cricketers Should Pray Instead of Doing Push-Ups'

Pakistan cricket team's push-ups celebration was a delight to watch, but it failed to amuse Pakistan's government. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday barred the push-ups celebration as the issue was raised in the session of Senate Standing Committee on sports. PML-N MNA Chaudhary Nazeer Ahmad has said that cricketers should pray instead of doing push-ups after the victory. According to him, this act portrays a negative image of Pakistan.

This trend was started in Lord’s Test match after Misbah-ul-Haq dedicated his century to the army, which was later adopted by the whole team on wining the match. However, PCB has decided to barred players of this celebration as officials debated over this trend in the committee.

Just a day after Questta’s tragedy, the debate over ‘push-ups’ in the committee has upset the nation. People have questioned and ridiculed government’s priorities and the statements of lawmakers over the issue.
