On Monday, The Guardian newspaper reported that European Commissioner for the Security Union Julian King alleged that Russia was getting ready to seize vessels in the Sea of Azov and was spreading false rumors against Ukraine, claiming that Kiev had tried to infect the sea with cholera and transport a nuclear bomb to the peninsula.
"As for the claims about a 'nuclear bomb in Crimea,' we leave them on the conscience of [Julian] King, who, obviously, is nervous about his upcoming separation from the European Union and his current post. It is hard to understand why he would spread such fake information," Zakharova said.
