The search and rescue efforts have ended for five Marines who remain missing after an F/A-18 and KC-130 crashed off the coast of Japan, and all are now being declared deceased, the Marine Corps said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th December, 2018) The search and rescue efforts have ended for five Marines who remain missing after an F/A-18 and KC-130 crashed off the coast of Japan, and all are now being declared deceased, the Marine Corps said in a press release on Tuesday.

"The Marine Corps has pronounced the five remaining Marines involved in the F/A-18 and KC-130 aviation mishap deceased. The change in status comes at the conclusion of search and rescue operations," the release said.

The collision between the two aircraft took place on Thursday. According to the US military, the F/A-18 Hornet and Lockheed Martin KC-130 left the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, located in the southwest of Japan's Honshu island, and were carrying out a planned refueling training when they collided.

Two Marines were rescued shortly after the incident, one of whom was in fair condition, while the other was confirmed dead last week.
