GENEVA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th December, 2018) A new round of the UN-led intra-Yemeni consultations is planned to be held in the beginning of 2019, the Office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) said in a press release on Tuesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths held a press conference on the fifth day of the consultations between the Yemeni government and the Houthi movement in Sweden.
"Griffiths clarified that the exact date and venue of the next round of consultations are being discussed with the two parties, mentioning that early next year is the target date," the press release read.
Yemen has been engulfed in an armed conflict between the government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Houthi rebels for several years. The Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request since March 2015.
