Iranian Energy Minister Confirms Commitment to Speed Up Creating EAEU-Iran Free Trade Area

Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian confirmed on Saturday during his meeting with Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin Iran's intention to speed up with implementing the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

TEHRAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th December, 2018) Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian confirmed on Saturday during his meeting with Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin Iran's intention to speed up with implementing the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 2nd Conference of the Parliament Speakers in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

"The Iranian side confirms its intention to ensure a prompt entry into force of the temporary agreement on the creation of a free trade area between the EAEU and Iran," a participant of the meeting quoted Ardakanian as saying.

On May 17, the EAEU and Iran signed a provisional agreement on establishment of a free trade zone for a period of three years. The accord envisages reduction or removal of import customs duties on a wide set of goods.
