MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th December, 2018) Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom will participate in the tender for the construction of new nuclear power plant (NPP) units in the Czech Republic if the conditions are attractive, the company's CEO Alexey Likhachev told Sputnik on Saturday.

"The tender has not been announced yet, but we will participate if the conditions are attractive to us," he said.

The Czech Republic is currently operating two nuclear power plants covering about one third of the country's electricity needs. The first is the Temelin NPP consisting of two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with a total capacity of 2,160 MW and the second is the Dukovany NPP, which has four power units with a total capacity of 2,040 MW.

In late August, Czech Industry and Trade Minister Marta Novakova said a decision on the financing of the construction of a new unit at one of the country's NPPs could be made before 2019.
