Russian Helicopters Company Receives Purchase Orders For 70 Ansat, Mi-171A2 Helicopters

KUALA LUMPUR (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd December, 2018) Russian Helicopters company has received purchase orders for 70 Ansat and Mi-171A2 helicopters as a result of its demonstration tour across Southeast Asian countries, the company's press service said on Monday.

The company has completed a demonstration tour to Southeast Asia. The helicopters were showcased at Airshow China 2018 in October. Potential customers from Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia also had an opportunity to see the exhibited helicopters during the tour.

"[The fact] that we received orders for deliveries of over 70 Russian helicopters for the next three years worth more than $500 million is a clear confirmation of the competitiveness and demand for Russian civil helicopters abroad, a logical result of the government's comprehensive measures to support Russian civil exports to world markets," Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said, as quoted by the company's press service.

Russian Helicopters CEO Andrey Boginsky clarified that a contract was signed with China for deliveries of 50 helicopters for the Society of Disaster Medicine, while "the rest 50 aircraft are expected to be supplied to Vietnam,Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia."

The Mi-171A2 is an advanced helicopter which combines technologies used in the construction of the Mi-8/17 series with new ones, such as upgraded engines and avionics. The Ansat, a multipurpose light twin-engine turbine helicopter, can be used to carry goods and passengers, as well as for surveillance, search and rescue missions, and medical evacuations.
