Official Opening Ceremony For UN Climate Change Conference To Be Held In Poland On Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd December, 2018) The official opening ceremony for the United Nations Climate Change Conference � COP24 � and its high-level segment, set to be attended by world leaders and heads of government, will take place in the Polish city of Katowice on Monday.

The major international environmental conference began its work on Sunday and will last through December 14, focusing on the implementation of the 2015 Paris Agreement. The official opening ceremony will be held at the International Congress Center at 10:00 a.m. local time (09:00 GMT).

Heads of state and government are expected to deliver their national statements. All Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), observer States and intergovernmental organizations will be free to join the high-level segment.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is not expected to attend the conference. French President Emmanuel Macron and the country's prime minister, Edouard Philippe, will not participate in the event either.
