UK Labour Leader Corbyn Confirms Party Will Oppose Brexit Deal Endorsed By EU

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th November, 2018) The UK Labour Party is going to oppose in the country's parliament the Brexit deal between London and the European Union, which was approved by Brussels on Sunday, because the agreement is bad for the United Kingdom, party leader Jeremy Corbyn confirmed.

Earlier in the day, a special meeting of 27 EU leaders took place in Brussels, during which the leaders endorsed the agreement and the political declaration regulating relations with the United Kingdom after the upcoming Brexit.

"This is a bad deal for the country. It is the result of a miserable failure of negotiation that leaves us with the worst of all worlds. It gives us less say over our future, and puts jobs and living standards at risk. That is why Labour will oppose this deal in parliament. We will work with others to block a no deal outcome, and ensure that Labour's alternative plan for a sensible deal to bring the country together is on the table," Corbyn said in a statement published on the party's official website.

Following the EU leaders summit, UK Prime Minister Theresa May voiced her hope that the Parliament would ratify the agreement although it had faced criticism both from the opposition and from the ruling party, when she defended it in the House of Commons last week.
