The southern Russian region of Rostov and American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) are expected to sign a cooperation agreement at the Russian Investment Forum (RIF) in Sochi in 2019, the governor of the region, Vasily Golubev, said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th November, 2018) The southern Russian region of Rostov and American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) are expected to sign a cooperation agreement at the Russian Investment Forum (RIF) in Sochi in 2019, the governor of the region, Vasily Golubev, said on Tuesday.

During a presentation on the economic and investment potential of the Rostov Region for the members of AmCham, Golubev stated that his government intended to enhance trade and economic cooperation with the United States. Following the presentation, it was decided that an agreement between the Rostov Region and the AmCham would be signed in 2019.

"We will do this within the framework of the forum in Sochi, and until that time we will work on the document itself, its course, our goals and outcomes, which we should reach through its implementation," Golubev said.

The presentation was preceded by a meeting between Golubev and Alexis Rodzianko, the president and CEO of AmCham in Russia, at which the governor highlighted that trade between the Rostov Region and the United States had decreased by 44 percent in the first nine months of 2018. He also noted that these figures remained inadequate in relation to the region's potential and both countries' capacities.
