Electricity Supply Restored In Syrian City Of Al Mayadin After 4-Year Blackout - Reports

DAMASCUS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) The Syrian authorities restored electricity supply in the eastern city of Al Mayadin after more than the 4-year blackout, local Syrian state television reported on Sunday.

According to the al-Thawra newspaper, Al Mayadin is now supplied with electricity by 66MV power transmission lines.

The city of Al Mayadin was liberated by the Syrian army along with the cities of Deir ez-Zor and Al Bukamal from the Islamic State (IS) terror group (outlawed in Russia) in November 2017.

Syria has been engulfed in an armed conflict since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous armed opposition groups and terrorist organizations. As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees and recovering the infrastructure.
