PALERMO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th November, 2018) Moscow is ready to host a meeting for Libya, equivalent to the ongoing Palermo Conference on Libyan settlement, if Libyan political actors consider it necessary, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told Sputnik on Monday.
"We are always ready. Please, welcome! Nearly all of them [conflicting sides] have already been to Moscow, though one by one. If they are ready and interested in coming all together to Moscow, at a certain time, then I think that we will be happy," Bogdanov said.
According to Bogdanov, Libya's main politicians, including Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar, GNA Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj, head of the Libyan High State Council Khaled Mishri and Aguila Saleh Issa, chairman of the Libyan House of Representatives, should use such meetings effectively.
Bogdanov stated that agreements reached at meetings involving Libyan political actors should be put into implementation to advance the country's peace process.
"The main thing is that agreements must be implemented in practice, not in words. So, that they could restore the unity of the country, ensure the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Libyan state," the diplomat noted.
