TEL AVIV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th November, 2018) The Israeli military has brought a significant number of additional forces and assets to the Gaza Strip and is ready to expand its operations against Palestinian militants who are shelling the southern regions of the country, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Jonathan Conricus said Monday.
Conricus told reporters at a news briefing that in response to 200 rockets that had been fired from the enclave, the Israeli military had already attacked over 30 militant targets in the Gaza Strip and continued to deliver strikes against the Palestinian militants.
"The Israel Defense Forces also deployed a significant number of additional forces and military equipment [at the border with Gaza]. We are ready to expand our actions against terrorist organizations," he added.
Later in the day, the IDF press service reported that the Israeli military targeted over 70 facilities of Palestinian militants in the enclave in response to shelling.
"Over the past hours, Israeli planes, helicopters, other aircraft and tanks have attacked over 70 military facilities of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad across the Gaza Strip," the IDF said.
According to the IDF, more than one rocket per minute has been fired from Gaza at Israel over the past two hours. An IDF serviceman was severely injured when an anti-tank missile fired from Gaza hit an army bus.
