US, Polish Officials Discuss NATO Deterrence Policy - State Department

US and Polish officials discussed in Warsaw the issue of the United States' military presence in Poland and NATO defense policy at the Annual Bilateral US-Polish Strategic Cooperation Consultative Group (SCCG), the US Department of State said in a release on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th November, 2018) US and Polish officials discussed in Warsaw the issue of the United States' military presence in Poland and NATO defense policy at the Annual Bilateral US-Polish Strategic Cooperation Consultative Group (SCCG), the US Department of State said in a release on Monday.

"As North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Allies, the United States and Poland discussed a wide range of issues related to Polish-American relations, including NATO deterrence and defense policy, as well as bilateral security cooperation issues such as the US military presence in Poland, the US European Deterrence Initiative, and defense industry cooperation," the release said.

The State Department said the officials also discussed the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe's (OSCE) Structured Dialogue as well as European Union defense initiatives and nonproliferation.

"The two countries reaffirmed that the relationship between the United States and Poland is stronger than ever, and that the wide ranging SCCG dialogue helps to further solidify the bilateral partnership," the release said.

The SCCG group is co-chaired by Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Andrea Thompson and Polish Under Secretary for Security Policy Bartosz Cichocki.
