The German Foreign Ministry has urged Ukraine to speed up its probe into an acid attack on an anti-corruption activist after the woman died from the burns she received three months ago.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th November, 2018) The German Foreign Ministry has urged Ukraine to speed up its probe into an acid attack on an anti-corruption activist after the woman died from the burns she received three months ago."The incident must be solved and the attackers brought to justice as soon as possible," a spokesman for the ministry said in a statement.
Kateryna Handzyuk, a 33-year-old city councilor in Kherson, was severely burned on July 31. She succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, leading police to reclassify the case as a contract killing.
The German official said five people had been detained in Ukraine in connection with the inquiry. He promised that Germany would continue promoting grassroots initiatives to fight corruption in Ukraine.
