Iranian, Turkish Foreign Ministers Discuss Cooperation, International Issues - Statement

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed on Tuesday bilateral cooperation as well as topical regional and international issues, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th October, 2018) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed on Tuesday bilateral cooperation as well as topical regional and international issues, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Zarif and Cavusoglu reviewed the process of bilateral cooperation and emphasized the strengthening and development of collaborations. They also discussed the most important regional and international issues," the statement read.

Zarif and Cavusoglu met in Istanbul on the sidelines of the 6th trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

The meeting came after a summit on the Syrian settlement that gathered the leaders of Russia, Turkey, Germany and France in Istanbul. In their joint communique, the sides said that the Syrian Constitutional Committee should convene in Geneva by the end of 2018.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and terrorist organizations. Turkey, Iran and Russia are guarantors of the ceasefire regime in Syria.
