Regional Fuel Supplies Remain Adequate as US Refiners Close for Maintenance - Energy Dept.

US consumers of gasoline, jet fuel and other petroleum products are unlikely to face shortages during the remainder of 2018, a period when refiners typically shut down for maintenance, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a new report on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th October, 2018) US consumers of gasoline, jet fuel and other petroleum products are unlikely to face shortages during the remainder of 2018, a period when refiners typically shut down for maintenance, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a new report on Monday.

"Barring unusually high unplanned outages, planned outages that extend beyond schedule, or higher-than-expected demand, the supply of gasoline, jet fuel, and distillate fuel will be adequate in all regions through December," the EIA said.

The report covered five regions of the US - East Coast, Gulf of Mexico Coast, Midwest, Rocky Mountains and West Coast - noting that regional supply and demand balances are more important in analyzing fuel availability than national averages.

Regional analyses take account of pipeline infrastructure, geography, and marine shipping regulations constrain the amount of product that can flow between regions in the United States, the release said.
