MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th October, 2018) Kremlin considers the information about US surveillance plane controlling drones during an attack on Russia's Hmeimim airbase "alarming," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said earlier on Thursday that Russian Hmeimim airbase in Syria has been subject to a massive drone attack, with the unmanned aerial vehicles having been piloted by the US Poseidon 8 surveillance aircraft. The minister did not specify when the attack was carried out.
"This information is very alarming, undoubtedly, nobody should have any doubts here that all conclusions, the necessary analysis will be made by our military. In fact [the analysis] has been done before the release of this information. Only the military can give the details in this case," Peskov told reporters.
The spokesman added that it could not be ruled out that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump would discuss this issue or that there might be some political consequences.
