A building with offices of US Senator Kamala Harris and the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper have been declared safe following a series of reports of suspicious packages sent to former officials and a media outlet, the San Diego Police Department said in a statement on Wednesday.

"All clear. Previously broadcast Sig Alert is canceled. Roads reopening. Traffic is still expected to be heavy," the San Diego Police Department said via Twitter.
The office building and a section of 6th Avenue in San Diego were evacuated earlier as police investigated the delivery of several suspicious packages, according to published reports.
Law enforcement earlier intercepted suspicious packages addressed to former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as well as to the CNN bureau in New York City.
