LONDON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th October, 2018) Representatives of mining industry of Russia and the United Kingdom will discuss topical issues of common interest at a conference in the UK capital next week, the forum's organizers told Sputnik.
The organizers of the second Russia-UK dialogue on investment in mining sector and mineral extraction, scheduled for October 23-25, are Saint Petersburg Mining University and the UK Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3).
Despite the deterioration of Russia-UK bilateral relations, mining sector representatives recognize the need to maintain dialogue between the sides which is important for the development of mining industry of both countries, according to IOM3 President Martin Cox.
During the talks, the two universities are expected to sign a document which provides for the creation of an IOM3 representation at Saint Petersburg Mining University, which would manage the appraisal of UK personnel in Russia.
The Russian-UK relations hit a new low following the poisoning of Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury in March. The United Kingdom and its allies have accused Moscow of having orchestrated the attack with what UK experts claimed was the A234 nerve agent. Russian authorities have strongly rejected the allegations as groundless.
