WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) The United States hopes to see concrete steps towards the denuclearization of North Korea as a result of the third inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a press briefing on Tuesday.
"In terms of what we hope to come out of the summit, we hope to see a meaningful, verifiable steps toward denuclearization of North Korea," Nauert told reporters.
The spokeswoman stressed the third summit represents a unique chance for Chairman Kim Jong Un to deliver on the promises he made during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Singapore on June 12.
Earlier in the day, the South Korean delegation, comprising 150 people and headed by President Moon Jae-in, arrived in North Korea's capital. Kim, in turn, vowed to make every possible effort to boost aspirations for reconciliation and solidarity between Pyongyang and Seoul.
