US Court Changes Manafort's Pretrial Conference to Plea Agreement Hearing - Notice

The US district court in Washington has changed former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's pretrial conference to a plea agreement hearing, a court notice said on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th September, 2018) The US district court in Washington has changed former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's pretrial conference to a plea agreement hearing, a court notice said on Friday.

"The continuation of the Pretrial Conference presently set for 9/14/2018 at 11 a.m. is converted to an Arraignment and Plea Agreement Hearing before Judge Amy Berman Jackson," the notice read.

Manafort is expected to plead guilty after the Office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller has filed a superseding indictment earlier in the day, reducing the number of felony charges from seven to only two - a conspiracy against the United States and a conspiracy to obstruct justice.

US media reported Manafort's plea deal includes a call for a 10-year limit on the former Trump campaign official's prison sentence. The agreement also says Manafort would serve time for both cases filed in the state of Virginia and District of Columbia simultaneously, Politico reported.

The question whether Manafort is going to cooperate with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) remains open.

Paul Manafort has already been found guilty by a jury in Alexandria, Virginia on eight counts, including bank fraud and tax evasion, for his work in Ukraine. The judge declared a mistrial on ten other counts.
