At least 30 demonstrators and four police officers were injured on Wednesday in the clashes that erupted during the protests of veterans of the 1992-1995 Bosnian War in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, local media reported.

According too earlier reports, some 500 veterans gathered in front of the country's parliament building calling on the government to raise benefits for them and create a single veterans' register.

The law enforcement used tear gas to suppress the protesters who engaged in clashes with the police, the Klix.BA news news portal reported. Several ambulance cars were dispatched to the site.

Two protesters were detained by police, according to media.

Following the dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1992, Bosnia and Herzegovina proclaimed independence and the Bosnian War erupted between Bosnian Muslims, Serbs and Croatians. The war was put to an end by the 1995 Dayton Agreement, which formed three new entities - the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Serbian-majority Republika Srpska and the self-governing Brcko District.
