Trapeznikov to Stay Acting Head of DPR Until Next Election - Zakharchenko's Aide

Dmitry Trapeznikov, the deputy prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), who has just been appointed the acting head of the republic after the assassination of Alexander Zakharchenko, will be in office until the next elections, Zakharchenko's adviser Alexander Kazakov said Friday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st September, 2018) Dmitry Trapeznikov, the deputy prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), who has just been appointed the acting head of the republic after the assassination of Alexander Zakharchenko, will be in office until the next elections, Zakharchenko's adviser Alexander Kazakov said Friday.

Zakharchenko was killed in a staged bomb blast in a cafe in downtown Donetsk earlier in the day. DPR Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Timofeev, who accompanied Zakharchenko, is in grave condition in a hospital.

"Until the election," Kazakov told reporters answering the relevant question.

"The issue of the elections will be resolved separately taking in consideration all the international circumstances," the official pointed out.

The DPR authorities did not know if the elections would eventually be held in the republic because it depended on the international context, including certain decisions made by Kiev, Kazakov noted.
