MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 31st August, 2018) UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths will meet Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi in Riyadh on Saturday, regional media reported on Friday.
Griffiths has requested the meeting to discuss the latest negotiations developments, Al Arabiya broadcaster reported, citing official sources.
The meeting is taking place ahead of UN-backed peace consultations expected to take place in Geneva in September. The UN envoy has already sent invitations to all parties to Yemen conflict to participate in these talks.
The country has been gripped by a brutal conflict between the Hadi-led government and Houthi rebels for several years. A Saudi-led coalition backing Hadi has been carrying out airstrikes in Yemen since 2015.
UN experts have said in a recent report that all sides to the conflict may have committed war crimes.
