The Russian Defense Ministry will receive two upgraded Beriev A-50U (NATO reporting name: Mainstay) airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft in 2018, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said Thursday.
TAGANROG (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 30th August, 2018) The Russian Defense Ministry will receive two upgraded Beriev A-50U (NATO reporting name: Mainstay) airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft in 2018, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said Thursday.
"A very extensive overhaul is underway. We will receive another two planes this year, and the modernization of all aircraft of this type currently in service will continue in the future," Krivoruchko said during the visit to the Beriev Aircraft Company's Taganrog aircraft-manufacturing plant located in the port city of Taganrog in southwestern Russia.
