US Allows Federal Employees in Pakistan to Take Liberal Leave Due to Protest - State Dept.

The US government employees in Pakistan have been allowed to take "liberal leave" because of expected protests in the capital Islamabad in the next two days, the Department of State said in a travel advisory on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th August, 2018) The US government employees in Pakistan have been allowed to take "liberal leave" because of expected protests in the capital Islamabad in the next two days, the Department of State said in a travel advisory on Thursday.

"In anticipation of protests in Islamabad, locally employed US government personnel have been authorized to take liberal leave August 30 and August 31," the advisory said.

The demonstrations have been initiated by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) party, whose members and supporters have said they plan to march to Islamabad from Jhelum via the Grand Trunk Road.

The State Department advised US citizens to stay away from the areas of demonstrations and exercise vigilance in place of large gatherings.

Local law enforcement have already installed security measures near the Serena Hotel in Islamabad.
