MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th August, 2018) Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that a new anti-Syrian propaganda project had been launched on Twitter with the use of image of a six-year-old girl from Idlib, whose alleged account can be later used to cover the US-led coalition strikes on Syria following a possible staging of a chemical attack in the province.
The account, apparently run by the girl called Hala, has 357 followers including leading Western media accounts, and it has been likened by Twitter users to the account of another Syrian girl Bana Alabed, which was heavily active during the Syrian government army's liberation of Aleppo and had over 340,000 followers.
According to Zakharova, Hala's account is an example of "the cynical, prudent, but not innovative approach of our Western colleagues to propaganda on the Syrian track."
The spokeswoman noted that Hala "calls on the world to pay attention to Idlib, stop killing children and deliver air strikes."
"What a great attention to the child! It looks like it is the only child in Idlib, to whom the attention of the entire international community must be paid. And after all this, they [West] are teaching us and telling us that we are propaganda. This is how the real work must be done. This is what the real propaganda is. Over 350 subscribers and there are five world leading media outlets among them!" Zakharova stressed.
Zakharova warned that this account can play a vital role if a provocation against the government forces of Syria in Idlib takes place.
The Syrian army, supported by Russian forces, has organized a humanitarian corridor in the area, allowing civilians to leave Idlib for the territories under the Syrian government's control.
Earlier this week, Russia's Defense Ministry warned that the leader of the Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group, which is affiliated with Jabhat Nusra, was planning a false-flag chemical attack against civilians in Idlib in order to provoke western nations into retaliating against Damascus.
Idlib is one of Syria's areas where terrorists and militants, particularly those who are part of the Al Qaeda-linked Jabhat Nusra terror group (banned in Russia) or affiliated with it, are active. Moreover, thousands of jihadist militants have been transported to the province from other Syrian regions under deals with Damascus.
