Agreement Between S.Ossetian, Syrian Chambers of Commerce May Be Signed in Fall - Bibilov

An agreement between the cambers of commerce of the partially-recognized state of South Ossetia and Syria could be signed at the Damascus International Fair in September, the breakaway republics President Anatoly Bibilov said on Saturday.

TSKHINVALI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th August, 2018) An agreement between the cambers of commerce of the partially-recognized state of South Ossetia and Syria could be signed at the Damascus International Fair in September, the breakaway republics President Anatoly Bibilov said on Saturday.

"As for the economic development, we will definitely participate in the fair that will take place in Damascus. Moreover, during our visit to Syria, we arranged that agreements between our chambers of commerce would be signed, and I think that it [the Damascus International Fair] will be a perfect place where we can do this," Bibilov said during his meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad, who is visiting South Ossetia on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Russia's recognition of the republic's independence.

The fair is set to be held between September 6 and September 15, with a total of 48 countries expected to partake in the event.

Damascus recognized the independence of South Ossetia in late May. In July, the two sides signed an agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations, which was followed by Biblov's visit to Syria and a meeting with President Bashar Assad.

Earlier on Saturday, Haddad announced that Syria would open its embassy in South Ossetia in the near future.
