WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd August, 2018) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will make a four-day trip to China starting on September 1 and will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the visit, spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a press briefing on Thursday.

"On Saturday, September 1, the secretary-general will leave for a visit to China," Dujarric told reporters. "During his visit, the secretary-general will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other senior officials."

Guterres is set to speak at a forum on China-Africa cooperation and meet with leaders of the African Union Commission on the sidelines of the summit, the spokesman added.

The secretary-general will return to New York on Tuesday evening, according to Dujarric.

Guterres visited China in April shortly after President Xi has been re-elected. The UN chief traveled to Beijing to congratulate Xi on his victory and discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
