MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd August, 2018) The Taliban leaders have accepted Moscow's invitation to join the upcoming Russia-mediated talks on Afghanistan, media reported on Wednesday.
At least four high ranking leaders of the movement would attend the negotiations, Reuters news agency said, citing a Taliban spokesman.
Earlier in the day, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said that Kabul would not participate in the talks, scheduled for September 4.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, apart from the leadership of the Taliban political office in Doha, a total of 12 states were invited to join the talks, including the United States.
