MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) The Taliban released 29 employees of a private construction company in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar on the occasion of Eid al-Adha holiday, media reported Wednesday, citing a provincial governor spokesman.

According to Aziz Ahmad Azizi, the workers, kidnapped in June, were released under a decree issued by the Taliban leaders, the Xinhua news agency reported.

Local authorities helped the released people to get back to their families.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani announced on Sunday a conditional three-month ceasefire with the Taliban movement timed to the Eid al-Adha. Ghani said that the truce would be in place only if the militants stuck to it and ceased hostilities. The Taliban, however, reportedly refused to declare a ceasefire.
