Over 20 People Get Food Poisoning in Moscow Region, 1 Dies - Health Ministry

A total of 26 people got food poisoning in the town of Kotelniki in the Moscow Region, one of whom died while 23 others were hospitalized, the press service of the region's Health Ministry told Sputnik on Tuesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) A total of 26 people got food poisoning in the town of Kotelniki in the Moscow Region, one of whom died while 23 others were hospitalized, the press service of the region's Health Ministry told Sputnik on Tuesday.

According to media reports, the incident took place at a construction site in Kotelinki. Those poisoned were Uzbek nationals working at a construction site for a new residential building. A source in the region's emergency services told Sputnik that the Uzbek citizens got the food poisoning on Saturday, but sought medical assistance only after several days of self-treatment.

"Due to the incident in Kotelniki, 26 people suffered, 23 of them were taken to Lubertsy regional hospital number 1, Ramenskoye infectious diseases hospital and Lubertsy regional hospital number 2 with complaints of feeling sick. They are receiving all the necessary medical assistance. Two affected persons refused to be taken to the hospital, and one died before the ambulance arrived," the ministry said in a statement, adding that the condition of everyone who was hospitalized was assessed as "fair."

Seven ambulance teams and two teams of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Disaster Medicine Center were operating at the scene of the incident. An investigation into the circumstances of the illness is underway, according to the press service.
