Russia's Central Military District Commander Examines Readiness For SCO Anti-Terror Drills

YEKATERINBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th August, 2018) The commander of Russian Central Military District troops Lt. Gen. Alexander Lapin checked readiness for international anti-terror exercises of the SCO countries Peace Mission 2018, which will kick off on Wednesday, Russian military reported on Saturday.

"The commander of the Central Military District troops Lt. Gen. Alexander Lapin checked readiness of Chebarkul military post (Chelyabinsk region) for international anti-terrorist exercises of the SCO countries Peace Mission 2018. Gen. Lapin inspected the facilities at the 255th inter-service training ground, where a draw of the drills' stages will be held, assessed the conditions for the deployment of national contingents in the quarters and tent camp," the Central Military District said in a statement.

The commander also checked the deployment of the mixed air group at Shagol military airfield in Chelyabinsk.

Peace Mission-2018 drills will be held on August 22-29 in the town of Chebarkul in Chelyabinsk Region. The military command, the ground forces and aviation of the armed forces of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as India and Pakistan will participate in the exercise. Representatives of Uzbekistan will participate in the drills as observers. In total, more than 3,000 servicemen of the SCO member states and about 500 units of equipment, including aviation, will be involved in the exercises.
