Israel May Open Gaza Checkpoint on Wednesday If No New Attacks Take Place - Minister

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday that the Kerem Shalom checkpoint on the Gaza Strip border will open on Wednesday, given there is an absence of Palestinian attacks.

TEL AVIV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday that the Kerem Shalom checkpoint on the Gaza Strip border will open on Wednesday, given there is an absence of Palestinian attacks.

Earlier in August, the Israeli authorities introduced an embargo on all fuel deliveries to the Gaza Strip in response to airborne arson attacks coming from the enclave.

"It has been decided that if the calm that has been established on the border of the Gaza Strip continues until tomorrow morning, the Kerem Shalom crossing will open ... at 9:00 a.m. [6.00 GMT]," Lieberman said, as quoted in the press release.

There have been no attacks from either side since Saturday, according to representatives of local authorities.
