Venezuela About To File Extradition Requests For Maduro Attack Suspects - Foreign Ministry

MEXICO CITY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) Venezuela is about to send extradition requests to the United States, Colombia and Peru to demand that they send over people suspected of links to the attack on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said.

"The judicial authorities are about to complete formulating the extradition requests for the United States, Colombia and Peru ... We want to believe that Washington, Bogota and Lima will comply with their international [law] responsibilities," the minister said Monday.

According to the authorities, 23 suspects have been identified and 10 have already been detained, while some of the others are abroad.

Maduro was attending a military parade in Caracas on August 4 when he was targeted by an explosion. The president was unharmed, but several soldiers were injured in the incident. According to the Venezuelan authorities, the assassination attempt was carried out with two explosives-laden drones.
