SC suspends LHC’s decision of recounting NA-131 votes

The Supreme Court has accepted Imran Khan’s petition for hearing.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 8th August, 2018) The Supreme Court has suspended Lahore High Court’s (LHC) decision to recount votes in NA-131.

The Supreme Court has accepted Imran Khan’s petition for hearing. Imran Khan had submitted a petition in the SC against the recount in NA-131.

Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Saad Rafique’s counsel said that Imran Khan had agreed to open all the Constituencies. To this, the chief justice said that it was a political speech and has nothing to do with us. We take decisions according to law.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan said that the High Court cannot interfere in the matters of the Election Commission.

The result has been formulated. Saad Rafique’s counsel said that they would go to the election tribunal if Imran Khan retained his NA-131 seat.

The LHC while rejecting Imran Khan’s petition against vote recount had on Saturday ordered a recount in NA-131, Lahore.

It had stopped the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from issuing notification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan's victory from NA-131.

Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh passed the orders while allowing a petition filed by runner up Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate Khawaja Saad Rafique.

The former railways minister had lost to the PTI chief by a difference of 680 votes, receiving 83,633 votes against Imran Khan's 84,313.
