Asad Umar demands action against Ishaq Dar as per law

Says if the law says Dar’s passport should be suspended, it should be

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 6th August, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Finance Minister-to-be Asad Umar has spoken up about former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Ishaq Dar who is in London, avoiding corruption cases in Pakistan.

Asad Umar said that he is not a legal expert so he can’t say if Dar’s passport should be suspended or not. He however said that proceedings against him should be carried out according to law.

"Law should be implemented regardless of whether someone is weak or powerful. If the law says Dar’s passport should be suspended, it should be and if law says he should be brought back to Pakistan by issuing red warrants through Interpol then that should happen," he said.

Earlier, there were reports that former finance minister Ishaq Dar has taken political asylum in London.

According to media reports, Dar has applied for political asylum on grounds of his poor health and the difficulties he has to face in Pakistan.

According to Foreign Office sources, Dar has sought political asylum in London citing his health and the difficulties in Pakistan as the reasons.

Sources said that the Britain government has not yet responded to the application; however, if he is able to get an asylum, he will not return to the country. Consequently, the cases against him will prolong.
