Ch Nisar to contest by-election: Sources

Ch Nisar will keep his provincial seat and will take an oath on it.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 30th July, 2018) Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will contest in the by-election after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ghulam Sarwar Khan will leave one of his seats.

According to sources close to Ch Nisar, people around him are suggesting him to take part in the by-election and prove that the result of July 25 polling was not as per the aspirations of people.

Sources hinted that Ch Nisar will keep his provincial seat and will take an oath on it. However, it is expected that he will support Hamza Shahbaz for the chief minister of Punjab.

Ch Nisar, who contested as an independent candidate in the general elections from NA-59 and NA-63, lost to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to election results, Ch Nisar lost to PTI’s Ghulam Sarwar Khan who got 89,055 votes in NA-59 while former interior minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan got 66,369 votes.

He lost to PTI’s Ghulam Sarwar Khan in NA-63 as well. Ghulam Sarwar won with 64,301 votes while Ch Nisar stood second with 48,497 votes. PMLN’s Sardar Mumtaz Khan stood third with 22,475 votes.

Polling across the country was held on Wednesday, July 25, for general elections 2018.
