Saad Rafique challenges Imran Khan’s victory in NA-131

He adopted that the votes should be recounted in his constituency.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 27th July, 2018) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has challenged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s victory in NA-131, Lahore.

According to results announced by the Election Commission, Imran Khan won with 84,313 votes while Saad Rafique lost with 83,633 votes.

PMLN's Saad Rafique has submitted an application to the returning officer of NA-131. He adopted that the votes should be recounted in his constituency. The application said that hundreds of votes were intentionally rejected.

Polling across the country was held on Wednesday, July 25, for general elections 2018. Polling began at 8am in the morning and concluded at 6pm in the evening.

The nation elected 270 members of the National Assembly and 570 members of all the four provincial assemblies for the next five-year term. Around 105.95 million eligible voters – 59.22 million male and 46.73 million female – exercised their right to vote to mark another democratic transition from one elected government to another.

About 1,1673 candidates contested for 270 national and 570 provincial assemblies seats.

According to unofficial results announced so far, Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in a winning position and is likely to form a majority government.
