Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News - 15th Sep, 2016 ) : Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met with Chairman WAPDA at PM House on Thursday. Chairman WAPDA (Water and Power Development Authority) Lt. General (R) Muzammil Hussain briefed PM regarding the progress of ongoing hydroelectric power projects and assured their completion within the stipulated time. The Prime Minister said that generation of clean electricity and water storage would enable the country fulfill its water requirements.
He added more that the government is determined to eliminate power load-shedding from the country and provide cheap electricity to domestic consumers. PM said that the ongoing mega hydro-power projects would not only add significant electricity to national grid, but strengthen agriculture and industrial sectors besides creating employment opportunities. He directed WAPDA to litigate construction of water reservoirs, which would be helpful in minimizing the risks of floods. The Prime Minister asked the Chairman WAPDA to fast track the developmental work on ongoing projects.
