Multan: Passenger train collided with goods train, 6 killed and over 100 injured

Multan, (Pakistan Point News – 15th September, 2016) : 6 passengers were killed and more than 100 injured as Karachi-bound Awam Express collided with a goods train at Bucch railway station near Multan. The passenger train was on the way to Karachi when it collided with the goods train in Multan. 4 bogies of Awam Express along with locomotive engine were overturned after the collision. Many passengers stuck in the bogies and sources feared death toll might rise.

Authorities imposed emergency in all hospitals of the city and appealed for blood donations. According to railway sources, the injured were shifted to Nishter hospital. The rescue operation is being carried out by the army personnel. According to ISPR, Major General Muhammad Arif visited the accident spot. Railway officials said that they launched investigation to probe into the accident. While an eye witness said that passenger train rammed into a stopped goods train at the railway station. According to the rescue sources, it will take 5 to 6 hours to clear the railway track.
