Lahore(Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2018 ) According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, near majority of Pakistanis (42%) say they faced 2 hours or less load shedding, while 15% claim they faced 9 hours or more load shedding yesterday. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “What was the duration of load shedding in your area yesterday?” In response to this question, 42% said there was either no or less than 2 hours of load shedding, 22% said it was between 3 to 5 hours, 21% said between 6 to 8 hours, 9% said between 9 to 12 hours, 6% said more than 12 hours.
The same question was asked in June 2017. In response, 13% said there was either no or less than 2 hours of load shedding, 30% said it was between 3 to 5 hours, 23% said between 6 to 8 hours, 18% said between 9 to 12 hours, 14% said more than 12 hours. 2% did not know or wish to respond. Over a period of eight months, there has been a significant decline in households who claim to experience more than 6 hours of load shedding (19% decrease since June 2017). On the other hand, there has been 29% rise in the proportion of Pakistanis who claim to experience either no or less than 2 hours of load shedding. While there has been a decline in the duration of load shedding, these findings stand in contradiction to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s recent claim that “load-shedding in the country has been eliminated.”
