The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday rejected a petition filed by Pakistan Tehtreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan seeking disqualification of MNA Ayesha Gulalai.

Islamabad(Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2018 ) The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday rejected a petition filed by Pakistan Tehtreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan seeking disqualification of MNA Ayesha Gulalai. According to details, a three-member bench headed by the chief justice heard the petition. The chief justice said that Gulalai has not submitted any written resignation and asked PTI’s lawyer if she had submitted one. At this, the counsel for Imran Khan responded that the MNA had announced about her resignation at a press conference.

Gulalai violated party discipline by not voting in the election of prime minister, he added. To this, Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan questioned, “Had party chairman Imran Khan himself voted for the election of the prime minister?” Khan’s lawyer responded that the party chairman was not in town then. The chief justice then questioned, “What if Gulalai also gives the same excuse that she had not voted because she was not in town?” Justice Ahsan said that Gulalai had spoken about her resignation at a press conference just like Sheikh Rasheed had. So does that mean he has also resigned? “Political people keep giving such statements,” he added. The court rejected Khan’s petition, maintaining the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan regarding Gulalai’s disqualification.
