HYDERABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 9th, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested eight device operators accused of illegally deducting money from financial assistance provided to women under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Hyderabad.
An FIA spokesperson said that the arrests were made during a raid at a BISP payment centre in Latifabad, where the suspects allegedly withheld between Rs1,500 and Rs2,000 from each installment disbursed to eligible women.
During the operation, the officials seized biometric verification devices, important documents, and more than Rs1.386 million in cash believed to be connected to the alleged fraud.
The FIA has registered a case against the arrested suspects and launched a broader investigation. Officials said further raids are being carried out to apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the scam.
