PWPA and AGHS Agree to Expand Free Legal Aid and Lawyers’ Training for Women Across Punjab

A delegation from AGHS, a law firm working for the protection and promotion of women’s rights, met with Director General Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA), Dr. Lubna Nazir, to discuss ongoing collaboration and future initiatives for women’s legal empowerment

Lahore: (Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) A delegation from AGHS, a law firm working for the protection and promotion of women’s rights, met with Director General Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA), Dr. Lubna Nazir, to discuss ongoing collaboration and future initiatives for women’s legal empowerment.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed their partnership under which the Legal Aid Cell of the late Asma Jahangir’s law firm, in collaboration with PWPA, provides legal assistance to women in matters relating to domestic violence, child custody, maintenance, and other legal issues.

The meeting was informed that the AGHS Legal Aid Cell is also working with the Women Protection Centres in Lahore and Multan to provide training to lawyers associated with PWPA under its Paralegal Programme. The initiative aims to enhance the capacity of legal professionals serving women seeking protection and justice.

Director General PWPA Dr. Lubna Nazir appreciated the cooperation between AGHS and PWPA under the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Both sides agreed to further strengthen mutual collaboration, expand the provision of free legal aid to women across Punjab, and extend the lawyers’ training programme at Women Protection Centres to additional cities.

Dr. Lubna Nazir reiterated PWPA’s commitment to ensuring women’s access to justice and emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in providing effective legal support and protection services to women throughout the province.
