Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directs that combing operations across Punjab continue without interruption
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Nov 18th, 2025) The Punjab government has decided to request the Federal authorities to allow operations against the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in other provinces as part of its ongoing crackdown on extremist networks.
Provincial spokesperson said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting to review the law and order situation. During the briefing, CM Maryam directed that the combing operations across Punjab continue without interruption.
The spokesperson stated that the provincial administration has dismantled the infrastructure of extremist and militant networks, recovering modern weapons, ammunition, bulletproof jackets, and other materials from various hideouts linked to the banned outfit.
He said that funding used to spread hatred and unrest under the guise of protests has been blocked. Assets worth Rs 23.40 billion belonging to office-bearers of the banned organisation have been frozen, while 92 bank accounts and all digital accounts associated with the group have been sealed. Cases have also been registered against nine key financiers. Additionally, 31 FIRs have been lodged over anti-state content shared on social media.
During the meeting, officials informed that more than 61,000 registration forms had been distributed among mosques and clerics across Punjab, and over 50,000 imams had completed registration to strengthen coordination with law enforcement. CM Maryam expressed satisfaction over the 82 percent completion rate.
The spokesperson added that five major Wafaq-ul-Madaris bodies have agreed to support the provincial government’s mosque and cleric registration initiative. CM Maryam instructed authorities to ensure respect for clerics and avoid causing them any inconvenience.
“We do not want imams, who lead prayers, to be forced to extend their hands for donations,” CM Maryam remarked.
The chief minister also directed all deputy commissioners to ensure a permanent ban on wall chalking, warning that such violations would not be tolerated in any city of Punjab.
In view of the recent blast in Islamabad, CM Maryam ordered enhanced surveillance, including drone monitoring in every district. She also directed drone surveillance of harassment-related incidents to improve response and safety measures.
