MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th March, 2023) Western nations have been sending mercenaries to Ukraine disguised as humanitarian missions, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"The Western countries continue to send their mercenaries to Ukraine under the pretext of humanitarian missions," she said during her weekly briefing, adding that the mercenaries not only take part in military activities, but are also regularly spotted to be involved in the atrocities against civilians.
Zakharova also said that in many countries, where the mercenaries come from, such activities are a criminal offense.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has many times brought up the issue of mercenaries fighting for Ukraine. According to the data provided by the Foreign Ministry, they number in the thousands from over 60 countries. The Russian side considers the involvement of mercenaries in the conflict to be a form of support for Kiev by the West.
