No Debate in Biden Admin on Sharing Evidence With ICC on Russia - US Intel Chief

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines on Thursday refuted recent media reports that there is a debate in the Biden administration on whether to provide the International Criminal Court (ICC) with evidence of alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th March, 2023) Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines on Thursday refuted recent media reports that there is a debate in the Biden administration on whether to provide the International Criminal Court (ICC) with evidence of alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine.

"I don't think there's any debate (in the Biden administration) that we should be providing support to the ICC on Russian war crimes," Haines told a House Intelligence Committee hearing.

Commenting on media reports that the Department of Defense is not providing some information to the ICC, Haines said that this is not her understanding of what is actually taking place.

Haines also clarified that the US National Intelligence does not share any evidence with the ICC directly, but rather does it via the State Department's Office of Global Criminal Justice.

The New York Times reported on Wednesday that the Pentagon opposes the transfer of evidence by the Biden administration related to alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine to the International Criminal Court in the Hague out of fear that it could create a dangerous precedent for the United States, which in the future could be used against the Americans themselves.
