KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd September, 2021) The assassination attempt on Ukraine's first presidential assistant Serhiy Shefir is associated with an aggressive campaign against the active policies pursued by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, an adviser to the head of the presidential office said on Wednesday.
Shots were fired at Shefir's car, leaving the driver injured.
"Obviously, this overt, deliberate and extremely brutal attack with the use of automatic weapons can only be qualified as an attempt to ostentatiously kill a key member of our team. Law enforcement agencies are implementing all the necessary measures to seize criminals," adviser Mikhail Podolyak told RBC Ukraine news agency.
Zelenskyy's office believes that the attack is linked to an "aggressive campaign against the active presidential policies," the adviser added.
"Semi-criminal political and economic entities" seeing "deoligarchization" as a direct threat are consolidating in Ukraine, Podolyak continued.
